AN AFFORDABLE 10 STRING GUITAR. Until recently 10 string guitars were only available in the highest price bracket, and were the exclusive preserve of high end makers like Ramirez, Hauser, Bernabe etc. The American maker James de Cava, encouraged by the 10 string guitarist Janet Marlow, designed a high quality but more affordable 10 string guitar, which has the slightly shorter scale length of 64.5 cm.

The advantages of a 10 string (co designed by Narciso Yepes and Jose Ramirez in the 1960s) are an increased and more even resonance, the

extra bass notes allow more accurate performances of Bach, Weiss,

Dowland and other lute music, and there is greater volume and sustain.
